In Search of Keokok Falls Oklahoma

Recently we went to the area where Keokok Falls, Oklahoma once used to be.

You can actually google the ghost town and it will show up on the map, but in short it is roughly 14-15 miles east of shawnee and then a mile or so north of I-40.

It was a town named after Chief Moses Keokuk (1821-1908).

There is not a ton of information that can be found about this town. But it i a nice drive out in some very pretty parts of Oklahoma for any of you looking for your next place to go on a short trip.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out our video from our visit to this area.

GoPro Tool

As many of you know we have been working on our moto blogger channel more and more. One of the things I have had a increased problem with is keeping my GoPro mounted in the right direction. With speed and wind etc, the little screws sometimes loosen up when i tighten them by hand.

Solution: The GoPro Tool. This is an awesome little tool you can use to tighten your GoPro screws tighter and they hold up in the wind and vibrations of rugged outdoor use.

If you are interested in this same tool, Click this link and it will take you to it.

Thanks for Stopping by HeartLand Dual Sport and my you have an awesome week.

I will post some pics of it later, we are swamped on time this evening, I just couldn't wait and not tell you about it though.

Here is a link to the GoPro Tool Video.

Have a blessed week.

Thanks
Dale

HeartLand Dual Sport Trivia Trip Number One

Just a little information about the trip we took today.

It is located in Cleveland County. It is also one of the largest cities in that county ranking third by land mass. It is a great place to go and visit.

Be sure to watch the video to figure out where the town is. If I told you the man's name who it was named after, it will ruin the end. I will say he was a store owner operator and the name follows his involvement in building the community.

check out the video.

May you have a blessed week.

House Bill 1965 Passed

The House Bill 1965 was signed by Governor Fallen this week and the new law will go into effect November 1st, 2015.

As many of you know texting and driving has hit the heartland as well the entire nation in negative manner. Texting and driving over the past few years has lead to and increase in auto accidents. The amount of accidents has cost us all weather we want to accept the fact or not, and for Trooper Dees and Tropper Burch, it cost them their lives while they were working.

House Bill 1965 which was entered into the house after two Oklahoma State Troopers were killed by a motorist driving and texting.

House Bill 1965 will make it illegal for motorist to Text and Drive.
What is included in the wording of House bill 1965

TEXTING AND DRIVING
CHECKING EMAIL WHILE DRIVING
CHECKING SOCIAL MEDIA WHILE DRIVING.

You will still be able to use your phones for driving directions etc., However if you are distracted to the point that you attract attention from law enforcement officers, don't be surprised if they stop you.

You can read the full report on House Bill 1965 by clicking on this link

Thank you and always, Be Safe out there.

Go Pro Battery

Ok, so I went out to Lake Draper the other day to do some riding. The plan was to get some video footage of the dirt roads and Cross Timbers dirt bike trails and riding area.

When I got there, I went to turn my Go Pro on and the battery was dead? Not sure why. I have ordered two new Batteries and a charger for my GoPro, they should be at the house when I get home today.

I will keep you posted with a further review, But this is such a good deal I thought it would be worth passing along to you as well.

You can get yours at Amazon.

Thank you and have Blessed day.

1976 Honda Xl100

When I was 14 I was blessed with a 1976 Honda XL100. One of my fathers friends had it in his shed and it had been there for quite some time. When we brought it home, it would not start, needed new tires, new seat, new gas tank, you get the picture, It needed rebuilt essentially from the ground up.

That is exactly what we did, rebuilt it from the ground up,. Like I mentioned earlier, I was young, so my help was not much. But I enjoyed the time with my dad.

I can remember when we were waiting on the gas tank to come in, it had to be ordered and back then, there was no amazon or next day air, or online sales, it was go to the Honda dealer, hope they could find one and wait.. and wait.. While we were waiting, my dad pulled the big square gas tank off a rototiller, and strapped it on the bike. After a carburetor rebuild and a make shift tank, It was the first time we had it running since we brought it home.

My dad, got it all put back together and I eventually got my Motorcycle License. These are some great memories. Having the memories from this "endure" street legal motorcycle are some of my fondest memories as a child.

My dad did not really want me to get on the Big Roads, he was ok with me riding it around in the neighborhood, but not the main streets. However, he would go out of town a lot. With that said, my mother, bless her heart, loved loved loved "Eddies Steak House." Back then it was in Oklahoma City. My mother would send me to Oklahoma City down old Highway 66 on my XL100. (top speed 50 mph with wind at my back down a hill.)

Needless to say, to this day, I have some very fond memories of this old work horse endure. As I have gotten up in age, I have given up the Super Sport bikes, never really got the feeling I could live with out a road bike. so when I got ready to buy another bike this past year, I went back to the DRZ400. It is a fun bike, even though it is not really good at one particular thing, it does bring that grin across my face like i was 14 again.

Fun Stuff..
